This Act provides for the manufacture, importation, sale, storage and use of pesticides.
These Regulations implement provisions of the Plant Protection Act 1988 with respect to designation of ports of entry (reg. 3), entry requirements and plants exempted from requirements (regs. 4 and 5), phytosanitary certificate for imported plants (reg. 6), admissibility of fruits and vegetables (reg. 7), requirements for importation of in-vivo planting material (reg. 8) of in-vitro planting material (reg. 9), of plant pests (reg. 10) and of soil (reg. 11). They also make provision with respect to mail importation (reg. 12), packing materials (reg. 13), planting material subject to safeguard regulations (reg. 14), exportation of plants (reg. 15) and import permits (reg. 16).
This Act makes provision with respect to the manufacture and use of, and (international) trade in pesticides, i.e. any substance, whether toxic or not, which is used or sold for the controlling or destroying pests.
An Act to provide for the promotion and protection of consumer rights in relation to the supply of goods and the provision of services; ensure protection of life, health and safety of consumers; to establish a Consumer Protection Board and a Consumer Protection Appeals Tribunal and for related matters.

The St Lucia Bureau of Standards is responsibile for developing and promoting standards for products and services for the protection of the health and safety of consumers and the environment. Some of its services include: barcode generation service, HACCP recognition programme, food-agroprocessors certification, product certification/standard mark and label assessment.
This Ministry works to actively promote and facilitate, in close collaboration with the Private Sector, the establishment of a dynamic investment and trading environment, which anticipates changes in global circumstances, while strengthening and enhancing the productive capacities and competitiveness of Industry and Commerce, encouraging good business practices and promoting consumer interest. The Ministry is divided intothe following units: General Administration, Commerce & Industry, Commercial Information Centre, Consumer Affairs Department, Import Monitoring Unit, International trade, Office of Investment Coordination and the Small Enterprise Development Unit.


The National Agricultural Diagnostic Facility offers laboratory services that are aimed at strengthening value chains.


Environmental Testing and Consultancy Services Ltd (ETCS) is an environmental testing laboratory with a comprehensive range of microbiological testing, physico-chemical testing, analytical testing, consultancy and field sampling services. Some services include: food testing, water testing, soil testing and water quality monitoring.
